Mast cell program
“There are things I never considered to be pathologies, but just part of my life that I couldn’t explain have gotten better.” – Nurse practitioner & Center for Healing Neurology MCAS patient
Mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) is a complex and chronic disease of the immune system. It can affect the entire body and manifest in many ways including cardiovascular, dermatological, gastrointestinal, neurological and respiratory symptoms. Our MCAS program includes comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
Center for Healing Neurology’s Dr. Ilene Ruhoy and Dr. David Kaufman are co-authors of Diagnosis of mast cell activation syndrome: a global “consensus-2”. Dr. Ilene Ruhoy, Dr. David Kaufman, and Dr. Gillian Ehrlich recently completed filming for a documentary on MCAS.
Mast cell activation syndrome often occurs alongside six other inflammatory conditions:
- Dysautonomia (including POTS)
- Gastroparesis and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
- Ehlers-Danlos syndromes (EDS) and hypermobility spectrum disorders (HDS)
- Chronic infections (including Lyme disease and mold toxicity)
- Craniocervical instability (CCI) or tethered cord (TC)
At the Center for Healing Neurology, we offer comprehensive evaluations, including autonomic testing right in our office, to optimize treatments and identify root causes. We understand these conditions require personalized care. We are here to listen, educate, collaborate, and guide you towards healing.
