Lactated Ringer for Fluids

Single Nutrient IV

60 Minutes

Lactated Ringer's Solution is a hydrating, restorative fluid that contains water + sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium, and lactate in the form of sodium lactate (not lactic acid so won't worsen a lactic acidosis from exercise). Sodium lactate can actually serve as fuel to cells so this fluid can improve vascular volume and organ perfusion, and replace necessary electrolyte and minerals.

Contraindications can include advanced kidney and liver disease (cirrhosis), congestive heart failure, and swelling (edema) in the legs/ feet, brain or lungs (pulmonary edema).

You can receive as little as 250ml and up to 1000ml (a full liter). Infusion time can vary based on your interest and tolerance from 15-60 minutes.

  • Intravenous Therapy (IV Therapy) has been used since ancient times (in Western medicine since the 1600's. It involves using a needle to access a vein, typically in the crook of your arm, and infusing one nutrient or a combination of nutrients directly into your blood stream. It is commonly used for delivering medications and fluids for rehydration in medical situations. We also offer injections which is a needle that injects medication or nutrients into a muscle for direct but slightly slower absorption.

At NeuroVeda Health, we start with only the highest quality, pharmaceutically-produced products. As some of these nutrients can be light-sensitive or degrade easily with temperature changes, we vigilantly maintain the right conditions to ensure their potency. Dr Gillian Ehrlich, DNP, ARNP, is certified in integrative medicine through the Institute of Functional Medicine and has further certification in IV Therapy through A4M. She has personally designed our recipes. Our MitoBoost for mitochondrial energy and chronic illness support was designed by board-certified integrative neurologist MD Ilene Ruhoy. We also can customize recipes to address any acute needs at the time of your service.

We recognize that IV Therapy is one part of a whole health plan. We are, of course, designed to eat and digest food. In our modern world, we are exposed to unique modern stressors like some of the 80,000 pollutants that have been released into the environment since World War II and the advent of lights and screens that change the Circadian detox rhythms of our cells and those of our microbiome. These challenges call for innovative solutions. Ayurveda defines chikitsa, treatment, as anything that effects a healing change. IV Therapy can play a distinct role in impacting our health for good, encouraging an overall shift for optimizing our physiology over time. Please check out our other treatments and services for putting together a whole health plan for yourself.

  • If you are an established patient at our clinic, you can request an IV appointment through your portal [LINK].

If you haven't yet been seen in our IV Lounge or Clinic, please fill out our inquiry form [LINK] to initiate scheduling.

**Please note, there are a few contraindications for IV Therapy. You are welcome to review this list and our practitioners will review with you at your first service and review annually. You may not receive IV Therapy if you have kidney failure and/or are on dialysis or have congestive heart failure. You may not receive any ingredients to which you have a known allergy. We will decide on a case by case basis if you are appropriate for IV Therapy if you have poorly-controlled high blood pressure, a seizure disorder, cardiac arrhythmia (irregular heart beat) or nephrolithiasis (kidney stones). To receive Vitamin C doses higher than 10 grams, you must have a G6PD negative test on file. If you have had this before, you can upload this documentation to your portal or bring documentation to your appointment. We can place the order to have it drawn as well for future ongoing treatments.
